We can see the light at the end of this cold dark tunnel
This blog covers the Washington DC Area. Please consider subscribing for emails in your inbox every morning and to join my live chat which will be active during significant weather.
Good morning everyone! Not too different from previous days with temperatures in the low to mid 20s. Still fairly cold with any snow on the ground staying there due to it. In reality, the next few days will not be at all different with the region being stuck in this pattern. It will begin to weaken some next week, but still expect colder temperatures. Not favoring snow is weekend, but a rather impactful winter storm will be south of us.
Much of the same anticipated today with cold temperatures persisting. Morning temperatures will be hovering around 10˚F under sunny skies. Wind chills around zero making for yet another colder day. Afternoon highs get to the low to mid 20s with plenty of sunshine. Nothing too special about today, just another day we have seen before.
Light snow is possible tomorrow night, but will be relatively low impact. Morning temperatures continue to be near ten degrees with plenty of sun. The official reporting site at DCA has been running warm. While suburbs will be in the single digits, downtown DC will be notably warmer. But still cold of course. Afternoon skies turn partly cloudy with highs in the low 20s.
Any snow would arrive Saturday but would not count on it. Maybe less than an inch if anything. Low impact regardless, not too concerned about DC this weekend. Morning temperatures will be around 10˚F with partly cloudy skies. Afternoon highs continue to be cold near 20˚F with some clouds around. If you want snow, go south of Richmond.
Windy conditions occur Sunday behind the coastal storm with stable temperatures. Morning conditions will see skies becoming sunny with temperatures in the low teens. However clouds will work their way back in the afternoon and more so in the evening with temperatures in the low to mid 20s. While it is cold, we know what conditions will be like. We have seen it all week.
Finally we will warm up Monday. When I say warm up temperatures will be several degrees colder than normal, but compared to the past ten days, they will be pretty comfortable. Morning temperatures will be in the mid to upper teens with skies clearing after breakfast. Afternoon highs for the first time in over a week are forecasted to be a degree or two above 30˚F. Might not get to freezing but melting will be marginally faster. Next Tuesday we are forecasted to finally be above freezing.
